The vast landscape known as Monument Valley is located on the Utah/Arizona border entirely within the Navajo Indian Reservation. Monument Valley is not a valley as usually defined – it is instead a wide-open flat, desolate landscape that is speckled with crumbling rock formations that rise several hundred feet into the air. The landscape has vibrant natural colors – deep, rich reds, browns, ambers and even some shades of purple. The area is a feast for the eyes and the imagination.
